Small Beats Big Tip 7: 'Use Your People Resources Wisely'
If there aren't very many of you in the business (maybe it's just you) then don't try to cover every possible online and offline networking forum and industry event. You will just spread yourself too thinly and have a series of superficial conversations that you are unable to explore further, and a series of superficial relationships that you are unable to follow up and reinforce.
By all means, use the most people-efficient mediums to reach the maximum audience - and of course social media is a great small-to-big equaliser in this respect - but... keep in mind that so much of small business is about relationship, and trust. It's far better for you to focus on developing your reputation and presence in a targeted selection of key 'channels' (both on and offline, whatever they may be) so you get known, as opposed to just recognised.
